There’s no need to make an appointment at JewelRecycle. Just bring your items to any of our locations, and we’ll evaluate them in front of you and make an offer on the spot.
If you are interested in our written appraisals (available at our Cary and Raleigh locations), then you will need to make an appointment to ensure that our appraiser is present. You can call us at 866-287-7896 to schedule your appointment.
First, our experts will sit with you and examine each of your items. We use our non-destructive X-Ray fluorescence technology to analyze the purity of your precious metals in seconds. Your jewelry is not affected in any way by the process.
Any fine or designer items that may be resold for more-than-scrap prices will be set aside and priced separately. After sharing the results of our analysis with you, we use our state-certified scales to weigh your items. Your zero-pressure offer price is calculated using up-to-the-minute precious metal and diamond prices. If you choose to sell some or all of your items, we will pay you on the spot.
You can learn more about our process here. If you have any questions, our knowledgeable staff will be happy to explain everything in as much detail as you would like.
With a few exceptions, we are unable to provide quotes over the phone or via email. We need to physically see your items in order to assess them and offer an accurate quote. When we evaluate your items, we use X-Ray fluorescence technology to calculate the exact purity of your items. Simply knowing that an item is 14K gold isn’t enough. Items marked 14K gold can range from 53% pure to 58.5% pure. Our X-Ray fluorescence technology is the most accurate way to determine what your items are worth.
We may also offer more money for fine jewelry that can be resold; we need to see your items to see if they might be worth more than scrap prices.
The only items we may provide preliminary estimates for via phone or email are:
- Diamonds that are accompanied by an appraisal or certificate. Our estimate is based on your documentation and a photo of your item. This estimate is non-binding pending our assessments of the item(s) in person.
- Gold and silver bullion such as Krugerands, Maple Leafs, American Eagles, coin silver, and bars, which are commodities.
We might! We often pay higher rates for larger quantities of items.
We have a network of jewelry and diamond buyers who resell fine items, so we often pay a premium for these items.
We buy broken jewelry and solo earrings.
We buy any watch made of gold or platinum, and we often purchase other luxury watches as well. These watches may be made of other materials, such as stainless steel. We must see all watches in person in order to authenticate and price them. Below is a list of some of the fine watchmakers we are interested in:
- Rolex
- Breitling
- Cartier
- Patek Phillippe
- Omega
- Jaeger-LeCoultre
- Tiffany
- Breguet
- Tag Heuer
- International Watch Co
- Vacheron Constantin
If you still have any original packaging or paperwork related to your watch, please bring it in with you. This aids in our assessment of your item and may increase the value of our offer.
We purchase all gold, platinum, and palladium coins and bullion such as bars and rounds. We purchase U.S. silver coins, graded numismatic coins, collections, and any gold coin from any country. We are also interested in rare U.S. coins that are not gold or silver.
All U.S. dimes, quarters and half dollars made prior to 1965 are 90% silver, and we buy them, as well. We also purchase half-dollars from 1965-1970, which are 40% clad silver.
If you still have any original packaging or paperwork related to your coins, please bring it in with you. This aids in our assessment of your item and may increase the value of our offer. In some cases, we may provide quotes over the phone for bullion coins.
We purchase diamonds of all shapes, sizes, and qualities. We purchase diamonds that are both loose and mounted. We always pay a premium for any jewelry containing diamonds, including engagement rings.
We do not purchase other gemstones unless they are part of a piece of jewelry that can be resold. In some cases, we may be able to remove gemstones from your jewelry and give them back to you if we are not able to pay a premium for them.
If you still have any original packaging or paperwork related to your diamonds, please bring it in with you. This aids in our assessment of your item and may increase the value of our offer. In the case of diamonds and diamond jewelry that are appraised or certified, we can often provide an estimate in advance of your visit. Simply email us your paperwork along with a photo of your item, and we will send you an estimate subject to an in-person validation of your items.
We do purchase place settings (but note that we pay less if these items are silver-plated, meaning they only have a very thin layer of silver coating a base metal). If you are unsure of your silverware’s composition, you may bring them in for evaluation. There is never a need to polish silver items before bringing them in for evaluation.
We purchase silver-plated flatware, hollowware such as bowls, tea sets, candlesticks, and more. The value of these items is low because they contain only a very thin layer of silver over a base metal such as copper. Most silver-plated items are over 99% copper by weight. We pay about a dollar a pound, which is better than throwing the items away. We do have a $10 total minimum transaction, which can be in combination with other items.
We purchase sterling silver jewelry, flatware, hollowware (such as bowls, tea sets, and candlesticks), bars, ingots, and more. We also purchase items that are other purities of silver such as 80% silver, coin silver (90%), and more.
Most of these items are purchased for their silver weight and purity. However, on rare occasions we pay more for these items based on intrinsic value, such as items made by Tiffany and other fine brands.
We must see all sterling silver items in person in order to price them. The price of silver changes every minute Monday–Friday and is very volatile. Our offers are based on the up-to-the-minute commodity price of silver.
Yes, we do buy gold and platinum jewelry. Most jewelry is purchased based on weight and purity, but we often pay a premium on estate, vintage, and designer jewelry that can be resold. We always pay a premium on jewelry containing diamonds. We sometimes pay extra for semi-precious stones if the jewelry can be resold. On some occasions, we may be able to remove and return semi-precious stones to you.
We purchase gold jewelry of all purities, including 9K, 10K, 14K, 18K, and higher. Platinum is usually 80%, 90% or 95% pure. It doesn’t matter if your gold jewelry’s purity is unmarked. Our X-Ray fluorescence technology allows us to precisely measure the exact purity of your items.
We must see all gold and platinum jewelry items in person to price them. This is because some gold and platinum jewelry items can be resold as-is. In addition, the price of precious metals changes every minute Monday–Friday and is very volatile. Our offers are based on the up-to-the-minute prices of gold and platinum.
Yes, we buy dental gold, grillz, and fronts. We must see all items in person in order to price them. Dental gold in the form of crowns and bridges often contain Palladium as well as gold.
Our X-Ray fluorescence technology allows us to precisely measure the exact content and purity of your items. The price of metals changes every minute Monday–Friday and is very volatile. Our offers are based on the up-to-the-minute prices of gold and other precious metals.
We do not purchase the following items:
- Pearls
- Costume jewelry
- Fashion watches
- Gold-plated items
- Unmounted semi-precious stones unless they are GIA graded and authenticated (we do purchase fine jewelry containing semi-precious stones. In some cases, we may be able to remove and return semi-precious stones from jewelry if it doesn’t add value).
- Foreign coins that don’t contain gold
X-Ray fluorescence technology uses x-rays to measure the exact content and purity of metal items. This process is totally nondestructive, extremely accurate, and instantaneous. We make our offers based on the exact purity of your items. For example, 14K gold items range from 53% to 58.5% gold, so two items of the same exact weight that are marked 14K gold may fetch a different price depending on their exact purity. Thanks to X-Ray fluorescence technology, we can discover the precise composition of your items for the most fair and accurate pay-out. Very few jewelers, gold buyers, and pawn shops possess X-Ray fluorescence technology.
